                                   Tiger's Eye

A man is flying to India, his name is Luke Ryder. Luke is an environmental flora and fauna expert. Basically he studies animal habitats. Luke is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, in shape and athletic looking. He has brown hair, green eyes, and a bit of a scruffy beard that he keeps short. He is on his way to India to help protect the tigers environment. Hopefully saving tigers from going extinct out in wild. There Luke sits, in the second class cabin of the plane with an old man snoring behind him, drinking a coke and eating peanuts that are way too salty. As he was doing this he examined some papers about his current job, which is to see how much land and food is available to the tiger population and to try and get the locals to help protect the tigers from poachers. 'The locals are important,' thought Luka. 'If they agree to help it would be a huge step forward.' He thought as he continued reading through the paperwork. When he got to the end of all these forms he noticed something paper clipped to the bottom. A hand written note, Luka began to read it.

                                                                         Luke,
Be careful in that area. Twelve people have disappeared in the last two weeks. Possibly a man eating tiger. Watch yourself out there man. Gabe.

Luke read the note again and made a mental note to thank Gabe for the heads up and to ask why no one told him about this. Luke checked the time and saw that he had another hour before the plane landed. Using the time he has Luka pulls out his I-pad and did some research into the disappearances. Luka quickly found out that Gabe was right. 5 Americans, 2 Italians, 4 British, and 1 Frenchman, had a vanished without a trace after leaving the city to explore the forest where tigers could still be found. Luke thought it was odd that tourist disappeared. 'Normally it's rural villagers that go missing.' Luke thought as he looked at the clouds outside the planes window. He hoped that the missing people would be found, but he knew that if you went missing in a place like the Indian jungle you most likely weren't coming back. 'I'll just have to watch myself out there.' Luke thought as the employees on the plane told everyone to fasten their seatbelts.

Luke collected his bag from the luggage claim and had a taxi drive him to the research facility in the "tiger's forest." This forest was known to have a good population of tigers and there are two villages nearby that Luke and his partner would have to visit to get the villagers support. In addition to that Luke and his partner would need to take a hike through the jungle to do an estimation on the tiger population. Luke got to know his partner ,Ike, for this job quickly. Ike is a fellow American, he's a little shorter than Luke, has spiky black hair, a bit of a tan, and loves his job here in the jungle. Together they looked at charts, maps, talked to villagers and did their jobs. This was important work, and they did their best at it.

Luke has been here for about a week and the time for Luke and Ike to gather supplies from the city for their trek into the jungle. They needed some food, water, and some other basic necessities. They went to the biggest city in the area, and split up to gather the supplies. Luke gathered the toilet paper, water and food, while Ike gathered his items. Luke was on his way back to the car to meet Ike when he noticed a booth that he hadn't noticed before. Another American was manning the booth, selling stones and trinkets. "Come one! Come all! Buy a tigers eye necklace and help the tigers make a comeback!" Shouted the American behind the table. Luke couldn't resist checking this out, it is was his job after all to help the tigers and every other animal. "It's not very often I see a fellow American in a place like this." Said Luka as he walked toward the booth. "The same goes for me. I'm Griffin , and you are?" Said Griffin with a smile. "I'm Luke and I'm actually here for the same reason as you Mr. Griffin. I'm a wildlife researcher. I'm here to help the tigers make a comeback." "I see…" Said Griffin with a gleam in his eyes. "And please, call me Griffin. Just Griffin." He added. "Now then, why not get a tigers eye necklace? All proceeds go to the tigers." Luka looked through the necklaces and other assorted trinkets and picked one necklace with a large gold stone and looked at Griffin for the price. "Your job is very important to the tigers Luke. I insist that you take the necklace no charge." Luka asked, "are you sure? I can at least donate a few dollars to help out…" Griffin cut him mid sentence though, "I insist. The tigers will be getting  a large donation from White industries, I am a partner with that company. They have agreed to donate a 1,000 dollars for every necklace that someone takes. As long as you take the necklace the tigers will get a thousand bucks. So please, take the necklace." Luke was astonished to hear this and decided he should take the necklace. He told Griffin, "thank you. I'm sure the donations will be most useful. Thank's again." Luke slipped the necklace and it's gleaming gold stone into his pocket and walked off the car to meet with Ike. And left Griffin with a sly smile on his face to keep giving out stones. Luke and Ike made there way back to research station and stayed there for the night.

The next day they both got ready and left for the unforgiving jungle to try and decide how many tigers were living in the vast forest. A census of the population. This was the is the most important part of the expedition. If there were enough tigers here in this forest they could relocate a few into areas where tigers were going extinct. Thus helping the overall population. Before Luke left though, he thought that it would be appropriate to wear the tigers eye necklace while they were doing their research. He slipped the necklace over his head and realized the stone was warm. This made Luke pause, normally stones were cold when you first wore them. He explained this as the warm and somewhat humid air. He thought that the air had kept the stone warm over night. He smiled and finished getting ready for the trek.

Luke and Ike drove the rickety Jeep through the jungle to their destination. The deepest part of the jungle. The plan was to set up a base camp and start looking for signs of big cat activity. Recently killed prey animals, footprints, bones, and other various things like that. The first part of their mission went off without a hitch. Luke and Ike successfully set up the base camp, the Jeep was camouflaged to protect it from any thieves, and Luke had warned Ike about the recent disappearances. Ike was already aware of the possible danger though and had prepared for any sort of danger. In the jungle that meant a giant machete. Luke and Ike proceeded into the jungle cautiously. All of their senses tuned to their surroundings, for the signs they were looking for and possibly a hungry cat on the hunt.

They had been hunting through the jungle for the better part of day and had found nothing. Lots of giant bugs, but no tigers. They were going to go down one more trail before they went back to base camp to sleep for a few hours. Just as Ike began to walk down the crude jungle path, Luka spoke up. "Ike… I feel a little woozy. I think I the humidity's gotten to me. I feel like I'm gonna black out. The base camp's close, I should go back and get some water in me, before you have to carry me back." Said Luke as he clutched at his stomach. "You sure? I can come back with you, I mean it's a little bit dangerous out here by yourself." Ike said as he looked his newest friend over with concern. "No. I'll be fine, just need to sit down for a while. You keep going." Luke said as he began to turn around to head back to camp. "I really think I should go with you Luke." Ike said unconvinced. "I'll be fine Ike. I promise." Said Luke with a smile, which didn't go with how he was feeling. The phrase 'I promise' convinced Ike. He didn't like it but he would respect his friend's request. Ike decided he would do this survey as quick as possible and get back to make sure Luke was alright. "Fine but be careful. Keep that machete close. I'll be back as soon as possible." With that Luke began to trudge back to camp.

When Luke got back to camp he was feeling a little better. He still felt a little nauseous but he didn't feel like he would pass out anymore. He sat down on one the green cots that would be their beds later with some water and proceeded to drink most of it. "Ahh… I feel a lot better." Said Luke as he sat the water bottle on a makeshift table. That was when he noticed the black mark on his hand. His eyes narrowed and rubbed his other hand over the black line. "What the…" Luke started. When he rubbed his hand over the black mark he realized it was hair. He tried to pull it off with painful results. "That's not normal! What's wrong my hands?!" As he was worrying about his hand he felt a sudden pain in his mouth. He put his good hand in his mouth and felt the tooth that was hurting. Still keeping an eye on his black spot. When he felt his canine tooth that was hurting, he realized that it was long and sharp, with a little blood oozing from his gum. He realized that his other canine was the same, long, sharp with a little blood. "Huh?!" Luke exclaimed as he saw that his arms were coated with black stripes. As he was staring at his arms in horror he watched as tufts of orange fur grew in between the  black stripes. His hands were changing quickly, his nails grew long and black. They had turned into black claws. His fingers shrunk and became bigger. Luke's hands were now saucer sized paws with 3 inch long claws. Luke was transfixed by either amazement or horror. He didn't scream or yell, he was frozen. The next change that happened was in his back. Luke heard a loud cracking sound. He suddenly doubled over in pain unable to stand up. He let out a moan as his spine elongated. He tried to fight through the pulsing pain but was unable to do more writhe on the ground.  His shoes were torn to shreds by his now razor sharp nails. His feet then expanded with the same orange and black fur spread up his legs. He felt the joints in his change to a digitigrades stance. Luke's body began expanding with muscle tearing his clothes to pieces. As his body was expanding he felt something jut out of the bottom of his spine and grow. He now had a long tail. Luke's arms had still not fully changed. That was quickly remedied as he felt them crack and rotate in their sockets. He let out a scream that was much deeper than his normal voice, it sounded much closer to a growl. His arms had now changed to match a tigers. He felt his organs shift and grow, which was the worst part of the entire ordeal. To him it felt like someone had lit a burning hot fire in his chest. The changes had finished on his body and were moving up to his head. He felt his skull lengthen and his teeth became even larger. His ears crawled up the side of his head and became rounded, at the same time eyes moved to the side of his head with some blood from around his eye sockets. Luke's nose had flattened by now and his eyes had gone from green to bright yellow. The transformation was complete. Luke felt the pain fade away. He stood up on all fours, and began to breath normally again. His weak human senses had been heightened to superhuman levels. He could smell everything, hear everything and see the tiniest movement.

Luke was now a fine tuned hunter, all the instincts had been ingrained in his brain. 'what happened to me?' He thought disdainfully, 'I'm not human anymore, I'm a tiger. This shouldn't even be possible!' Luke was contemplating his new body and what to do. It was strange, he felt so at home in his new body. Almost as if he had been born this way. Luke started walking around and he realized how strong and fast he now was. As he was testing his claws he heard the grass rustling nearby. With out a second thought Luke jumped into the trees and sat still waiting on the creature he could hear and smell to reveal it's self.

Out of the forest came Ike. He was carrying the machete at his side, ready for any danger. Luke watched his friend look around and saw him run over to Luke's tattered clothes. "Luke!!! LUUUUKE! Where are you!? This is bad… I need to call the police." Ike said as he went for the satellite phone. Luke hated to leave like this, but Luke's destroyed clothes and a massive male tiger stepping out of the jungle would only make Ike believe that he had been eaten by a man eating tiger. No, Luke felt it best to just disappear. With that the yellows eyes looking out from the shadows of the jungle turned and quietly crept away into the jungle.

Meanwhile up high in a nearby tree stood Griffin. He was wearing a black coat despite the heat, with a pair of binoculars and a chocolate bar. "I love a little bit of chaos." He said with a smile. He watched through the binoculars as Luke silently crept deep into the jungle. "And if it helps out a species than that's just an added bonus. Now let's see… Luke was number 13 to be changed here, 13 tigers is a step forward. I could transform a few more but soon the authorities will be poking their noses into these disappearances. I'd better move on. But where should I go next?" Said Griffin as he took a bite of his chocolate. He thought for few seconds and smiled. He said to himself, "maybe California? Lots of people there. Ha ha, this could be fun." With that he walked into the shadow of the tree and disappeared into the shadows.
Well I can't remeber what gave me this idea, but I'm quite happy with most of it. The begining always sucks when I write something like this, but I shine in the middle and ending. I also think you guys will be seeing more of Griffin in the future. :) Please comment, fave, and watch for more cool stories!

Sorry about the note in the story where the name Luke is not where it should be. I'm to lazy to fix it. If anyone has a major problem with it let me know I'll try to fix it. Thank you!
